Antonio C. Roque was born in Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil. He received his BS degree in physics (State University of Campinas, Brazil), in 1983, and his PhD degree in computer science and artificial intelligence (University of Sussex, Brighton, UK), in 1992. He joined the faculty of the Department of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo at Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, in June, 1993. There, he founded the Laboratory of Neural Systems (Laboratorio de Sistemas Neurais-Sisne), a pioneer group in Brazil on computational and theoretical neuroscience. Current research interests: biophysically detailed neuron models and large-scale spiking network models.
