Dr. Komaroff has concentrated on the following areas of research during his career, in reverse chronologic order: 1. Chronic "post-infectious" fatigue syndrome: studies of prevalence, etiology and laboratory evaluation 2. Role of human herpesviruses -6A and -6B in human disease 3. Causes and diagnosis of common problems in general medicine, particularly respiratory infections and urinary tract infections 4. Investigation of cost-effective clinical strategies in the practice of general medicine 5. Development of clinical algorithms to describe strategies for diagnosing and treating medical problems 6. Quantitative approaches to medical decision-making 7. Efficient use of medical manpower 8.
