PhD candidate with research examining the underlying structural and functional disruption to cardiac mitochondria which lead to thermally induced heart failure in wrasse fish species at critical thermal limits. This mechanistic approach will then be applied to wider conservation efforts in response to climate change, to improve understanding on what influences species distribution and survival, and allow more accurate predictive models. Alice's interest lie in the adaptive physiology of species inhabiting extreme and variable environments, as well as measuring the capacity and plasticity of these systems to compensate for and maintain performance under changing environmental conditions. This is primarily focused at the level of the mitochondria (sub cellular), and examines their function, composition and stability under ecological stressors.
