António José de Almeida Soares

I hold a PhD in Health Psychology, from the University of Minho, a post-graduation training course in Project Management and an executive Management course, both from Porto Business School. I first started working in FMUP, on a clinical communication training project, funded by the FCT, under the supervision of Prof. Maria Amélia Ferreira (2011 Gulbenkians’ Education Prize, past Director of FMUP) and also started my collaboration with the Obstetric Emergencies training programs in Medical Simulation (FMUP and CESIMED). I'm currently the Executive Manager of CINTESIS (coordinated by Prof. Altamiro da Costa-Pereira, and current Director of FMUP) and Coordinator of the Research & Innovation unit of FMUP. In addition, I'm also representing CINTESIS in the AgeUP consortium (following the initiative EIP-AHA from the European Commision (EC), CINTESIS in PtCRIN (Portuguese Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) and CINTESIS in the A3ES (Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education) meetings. I also represent FMUP in Health Cluster Portugal (Portuguese Economical Competitive Cluster in Health) and was elected a member of UPorto Senate for the 2019-2023 mandate. I frequently carry out Expert review and rapporteur assignments for EC projects (FP7 and H2020), COST actions, for the Lithuanian Research Council, for the European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases and for the Portuguese National Innovation Agency (ANI).
