Anna Sannino was born in Castellammare di Stabia, Naples, Italy, in 1975. She received the Laurea degree in biology from the University of Naples Federico II and the Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and pathology of drug action from the University of Salerno, Fisciano, Italy, in 2002 and 2013, respectively. From 2002 to 2014, she was with CNR-IREA, Naples, as a Research Fellow. Since 2014, she has been with CNR-IREA as a technical staff. Her research activities include the framework of bioelectromagnetics dealing with the evaluation of biological effects of low- and high-frequency electromagnetic fields alone or in combination with environmental pollutant. These activities are carried out by means of cytogenetic assays (micronucleus with cytokinesis block and comet assay) and cytotoxicity assays (cell viability, oxidative stress, and apoptosis). More recently, she has been also involved with the evaluation of the cytotoxicity induced by multiwalled carbon-nanotubes (buckypaper) and magnetic nanoparticles in mammalian cell cultures, and with the investigation of cellular and sub-cellular effects induced by high voltage, nanosecond electric pulses in cell suspensions, by means of molecular cytogenetic assays, cytofluorimetry, and confocal microscopy.
