I use chemistry and computer modeling approaches to predict whether chemicals in the environment might cause harm to animals and people. I also do "cheminformatics", where we collect and analyze structures and properties of hundreds of thousands of chemicals and make this information available on a public EPA CompTox Dashboard website. I also provide chemistry support to EPA research programs that are testing small quantities of chemicals using robotics and plates the size of an iPhone instead of dosing animals. These new approaches can analyze up to 1536 chemicals at a time generating lots of data for modelers. This new approach is called "computational toxicology" and is revolutionizing the way we do toxicity testing in the 21st century.
