Andy Sheppard

Andy Sheppard is an ecologist with an international reputation in biological control and risk assessment focussed on the management of biological invasions of invasive plants, invertebrates, vertebrates and pathogens through a fundamental and comparative understanding of the ecology and population dynamics of these species, where native and invasive. He uses observational, empirical and theoretical approaches to understand determinants of population growth and abundance of invasive species within their natural and exotic distributions. The national and international drivers of his research are the need for ecological solutions to biological invasions through targeting management strategies built on understanding invasion mechanisms.
