Ana Lillebø holds a PhD in Biology, specialization in Ecology (2001) from University of Coimbra, Portugal. During her PhD she had externship training in Sweden and in Denmark and was award with the IMAR prize (2001). She did her Post-Doc training at IMAR, Southern Denmark University and University of Évora. Since 2006 she is an independent Researcher at CESAM/University Aveiro (UA), where from 2006-2010 she developed her research at the Dep. of Chemistry and from 2011 to present at the Dep. of Biology, where she is now Principal Researcher. She is a well-established researcher in Coastal Ecosystems with focus on: Coastal Ecosystems Ecological Status & Management; Applied Ecology & Nature-based solutions; Environmental Chemistry & Anthropogenic impacts; EU Policies & Ecosystem Services, in a transdisciplinary context. She has act as key note speaker for academics and/stakeholders audiences. She has participated in national and international projects: as coordinator (FCT; EU/FP7; Mar2020); as WP and/or case study leader (EU/FP7/FCT CIRCLE-MED Era Net; EU/H2020; FCT; Mar2020); and as PI at CESAM (FCT; PROMAR/EU Fisheries Fund; Portugal2020; EU/H2020/FCT BLUEBIO ERA-Net) adding up to > 4.8M of funding. She presently granted with 2.5M € funding through a H2020 ERA Chair project (2021-2026) aiming at bringing to CESAM an outstanding academic in the topic of Environmental Economics and Natural Resources. She has collaborated with DG JRC on the Common Implementation Framework of the EU Biodiversity Strategy, co-authoring the 2nd Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem and their Services (MAES) report. She was also the main editor and co-author for the IWA book on Coastal Lagoons in Europe: Integrated Water Resource Strategies. Presently, she is responsible for the scientific supervision/co-supervision of 5 PhD (8 concluded); 5 MSc (13 concluded); and Graduation level (10 concluded) students. She is also responsible for the job positions and scientific supervision in the scope of research projects; for the multidisciplinary Advanced Course - Ecosystem services provided by wetlands: Anthropogenic impacts and Environmental chemistry, included in SETAC summer school since 2015; and Lecturer of Integrated management of marine ecosystems in the MSc in Applied Marine Biology of the University of Aveiro. Since 2015 she is a member of the Council of the Portuguese Centro Hydrographical Region (APA-ARHcentro), which is an advisory and supporting body of the Portuguese Environment Agency, IP (APA IP) in terms of water resources; and the national contact point for Ria de Aveiro LTsER platform at the Portuguese E-Infrastructure for Information and Research on Biodiversity and at ILTER marine task force. She was member of the Council of the Dep. of Biology (2015-2019) and the Director of the Postgraduate Master Degree in Applied Marine Biology at UA from 2016 until January 2020. She was member of the Council of the Doctoral School of the University of Aveiro (CEDUA) from 2018 until May 2021 and member of the Forum for Quality at the University of Aveiro from 2019 until May 2021. She was also the the Scientific Coordinator of CESAM - Centre for Environmental and marine Studies from May 2017 until May 2021. Currently, she is the Vice-Chair of ALTER-Net Council and Member of the 3rd EKLIPSE Knowledge coordination body.
Contributions to more than 150 communications, 45 reports, 30 book chapters, 1 scientific report with EU/DGEnv & EU/DG JRC, 4 books (Ed.) and 134 ISI-indexed papers; (121 with citations in ISI Web of Science: Sum of Times Cited: 3,790; h-index=32; w-index=9).
