I graduated in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 2006 and got a PhD in Pharmacy in 2012 funded by the Ministry of Education and Science (FPU Program) in the Department of Microbiology II of the UCM. I conducted postdoctoral studies with contracts associated with different research projects in the same Department. Currently, I work as an Assistant Professor at the UCM and carry out my teaching activity in the subjects of Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, and Immunology of different degrees, as well as in the subject of Cellular Signaling of the Master in Microbiology and Parasitology. I am part of the consolidated research group of the UCM “Functional Genomics of Yeasts and Fungi” (Ref. 920640) directed by Javier Arroyo. I have participated in more than 15 research projects, funded by national and European entities, and I have published 16 articles in scientific journals indexed in Microbiology, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology. My research interests are focused on the characterization of new genetic elements and molecular mechanisms relevant to the biogenesis and construction of the fungal cell wall in the search for new antifungal targets. I am also interested in understanding cellular signaling processes and the transcriptional mechanism regulating gene expression in response to stress situations that compromise the cell wall integrity in yeast.
