Mr. Amisalu Milkias was born in May 1988 in Wolaita, SNNPR, Ethiopia, to Milkias Misebo and Bekelech Dana. From 1995 to 2002, he attended Boditi Primary School, and from 2003 to 2006, he attended Boditi Secondary and Preparatory School. He enrolled at Hawassa University's Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resource in 2007 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in General Forestry with a Gold Medal in July 2009. Soon after graduation, he was hired as a Graduate Assistant by Haramaya University's Department of Natural Resources Management. He worked as a Graduate Assistant at Haramaya University for two years. In 2012, he enrolled in the School of Graduate Studies at Hawassa University's Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resource to pursue a Master of Science in Watershed Management with a specialization in soil and water conservation, and he graduated in January 2014. He worked as a Lecturer and Researcher at Haramaya University's School of Natural and Environmental Science until August 2018, then he transferred to Wolaita Sodo University's Department of Environmental Science. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor after publishing six (6) research papers in internationally reputable journals and working in various management positions. He presented his research findings at more than five (5) national and international conferences. Mr. Amisalu is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Restoration Ecology at the Agricultural University of Krakow, Poland, and conducting research on the Influence of Reclamation Technology and Plant Cover on Carbon Accumulation and Water Retention of Technogenic Soils in the New Ecosystem Restored on Reclaimed Post-Mine Spoil Heaps.
