Allan Kardec Barros received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Maranhão, Brazil, in 1991, the M.S. degree in information engineering from the Toyohashi University of Technology, Toyohashi, Japan, in 1995, and the D.Eng. degree from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1998. He worked as a Frontier Researcher from 1998 to 2000 at The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), Japan. Currently, he is with the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Brazil. His research interests include biomedical engineering, information coding, and speech signal processing.
