Alexandre R. Franco (S'04) received the electrical engineering degree with emphasis in telecommunications from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2003, and the Master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, in 2005. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico under Dr. Heileman. He is currently a Research Assistant at the Mind Research Network under the supervision of Dr. A. Mayer. He is an author of six peer-reviewed journal articles that have been printed or are currently in press. He recently attended the Summer School: Mathematics in Brain Imaging at the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics, UCLA, where he received a fellowship from the UCLA Center for Computational Biology. His interests include medical imaging, machine learning, statistical analysis, signal processing, and game theory. Mr. Franco is a member of the Engineering and Medicine, the Biology Society, and the Computational Intelligence Society.
