Alexandra B. Artusio-Glimpse received the Ph.D. degree in imaging science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, USA, in 2016, with the focus on flight of optical wings or microscopic cylindrical lenses driven by lasers.
In 2014, she was with the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL, USA, on early phases of the Near Earth Asteroid Scout Solar Sail Mission. She was experienced in solar and laser sails encompasses thrust and torque models on nonideal sails, solar sail orbital mechanics, models of sail membrane billowing due to radiation pressure, and reflectance characterization and measurement of nonpristine sail materials. She is currently a Physicist with the Boulder Laboratories, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder, CO, USA, where she is developing radiation-pressure metrology for the application of optical power calibration. Her current research interests include MEMS device fabrication and design, thin-film dielectric coatings, and optical tweezers.
Dr. Artusio-Glimpse was a recipient of the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2017.
