ALEXANDER RUTHERFORD is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Scientific Director of the Centre for Operations Research and Decision Science at Simon Fraser University. His research focuses on applications of operations research to health systems, public health, and epidemiological modeling. He has worked extensively on modeling testing and treatment within the continuum of care for HIV. Currently, he is leading a group of researchers at Simon Fraser University who are collaborating with the British Columbia Ministry of Health to model acute and critical care capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
