Alexander Paz (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree from Purdue University in 2007. He is currently the Transport Main Roads Chair with Queensland University of Technology. Before joining QUT, he was an Associate Professor of civil engineering and the Director of the Transportation Research Center, University of Nevada. He is also a Professional Engineer License in the State of Nevada. He has been working on developing methods, algorithms, and software tools for the management of highway infrastructure and the deployment of intelligent transportation systems. Some of his work, including data warehouses and software applications, has been adopted by the industry. Two of his inventions are used by the industry and one is patented. He has two more patents and is currently pursuing others. His broad interests include the application of operations research, network modeling, statistics and econometric methods, and informatics to the modeling, analysis, operations, safety, and control of large-scale dynamic transport and infrastructure systems. He is also a member of the Board of Governors for the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society.
