Doctor in Environmental Geochemistry (Fluminense Federal University, Brazil). During the last few years, this researcher has developed studies focused on the assessment of biogeochemical changes driven by natural and anthropogenic pressures through the interpretation of sedimentological records in marine and coastal ecosystems. His studies includes deforestation impacts on carbon accumulation in estuarine ecosystems (New Zealand and Brazil), mangrove ecosystems expansion driven by climatic changes (New Zealand), anthropogenic eutrophication in coastal bays (Brazil), assessment of post-El-Niño events on biogeochemical composition of sediments within continental shelf ecosystems (Callao-Peru), and the effects of hydrological regime on biogeochemical conditions in mangroves ecosystems (Tumbes-Peru).
