Alexander Marshak

Alexander Marshak received the M.S. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Tartu, Tartu, Estonia, in 1978, and the Ph.D. degree in numerical analysis from the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia, in 1983. In 1978, he joined the Institute of Astrophysics and Atmospheric Physics, Estonia, and worked there for 11 years. In 1989, he received an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship and worked for two years with the University of Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany. He joined the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Greenbelt, MD, in 1991, first working for the Science Systems and Applications, Inc., then the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and finally, NASA GSFC where he has been employed since 2003. He has published over 100 refereed papers, books, and chapters in edited volumes.
