Alev is an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). Prior to her incorporation to the BC3, she was an invited scholar for the Energy Justice theme at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies at Lund. For the period of 2012-2016 she was at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) working as a postdoctoral researcher on numerous international and European projects. She holds a PhD from the same institute. Her area of focus is on the energy metabolism of societies applying the specific approach of the Multi Scale Integrated Assessment of Societal and Ecosystem Metabolism (MuSIASEM). She has collaborated in several international and European projects applying the MuSIASEM framework to different cases. Alev holds a BSc degree in Environmental Engineering from the Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey (with a period spent abroad at Rice University, Houston, Texas, USA) and an MSc degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University, Sweden.
