Bio
I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University (Cairo, Egypt), and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University (Maryland, USA). I joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering in Cairo University as a tenured faculty member. I co-founded and was the director of the Medical Imaging and Image Processing Lab at Nile University (Cairo, Egypt). Currently, I am instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a staff scientist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston). In 2013, I received the State-of-Egypt Encouraging Award in Engineering Sciences for my scientific contribution in the biomedical engineering field. I am a principal investigator of a number of nationally and internationally funded research projects and have 60+ peer-reviewed scientific articles in addition to a number of international and national patents. My research interests include cardiac MR imaging and deep-learning based image analysis.
