Bio
Adriana Milazzo is an infectious disease epidemiologist and senior lecturer, and is a member of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences group in the School of Public Health. I have recently completed a PhD investigating the relationship between heatwaves and incidence of foodborne disease. No other studies have explored the relationship between heatwaves and foodborne disease, hence this research is unique, with the findings contributing to heat-related foodborne disease prevention in the policy arena, including practical public health interventions at a local level with international adaptability.
Prior to working at the University, I worked in indigenous health, communicable disease control, and coordinated a national sentinel surveillance system for influenza like-illness. My research interests is in infectious disease epidemiology, climate change and population health, surveillance and zoonoses. I have published in the areas of Q fever and foodborne outbreak investigation.
My other interest is in education research and I have been a member on institutional and national teaching grants. I am interested in developing and evaluating the use of interactive learning technologies and approaches such as flipped classroom to enhance the student experience in the health sciences
