I am a 1989 graduate of Physiotherapy from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. I have worked in various hospitals including Military hospital Benin, National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH) the premier teaching hospital in Nigeria. I left the services of UCH having risen to the post of a Chief Physiotherapist in January 2008 to join the services of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI), February 2008 as a Lecturer. I have a doctoral degree in Orthopedic Physiotherapy in 2007. I am presently a Reader (Associate Professor of Physiotherapy) with over 12 years of teaching experience at the University of Ibadan. I am a reviewer of many local and international journals and have published over 100 articles in learned journals of international repute. I am also a consultant musculoskeletal physiotherapist to the UCH. I have successfully supervised 25 undergraduate projects, 9 MSc. dissertations, one M.Phil. thesis and 4 doctoral theses. I made significant contribution to the development of a Nigerian environment and culture friendly measuring tool (first indigenous measuring tool in Nigeria) for the assessment of therapeutic interventions in individuals with osteoarthritis of the knee/hip. I specialize in the management of orthopedic conditions/musculoskeletal conditions with a focus on the management of osteoarthritis. I have to my credit the University of Ibadan Postgraduate School award on publication from doctoral thesis (2007/2008 session), distinguished Alumnus award from the Department of Physiotherapy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2007), distinctions and an award of Excellence for the Best graduating student in M.Sc. Biomedical Education degree programme from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, CoMUI (Pioneer set, 2011). I obtained the McArthur grant for academic linkages (2009/2010) to travel to attend a telemedicine workshop in the United Kingdom and United States Agency for International Development grant (2010) to obtain a diploma in telemedicine at the United States Telecommunication Training Institute, United States. I am a member of: International Society of Quality of Life Research, International Association for the Study of Pain, Association of Clinical and Academic Physiotherapists of Nigeria, Society for the study of Pain, Nigeria, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan Adhoc Committee on Course Ware Development. I am a reviewer for the following journals: Quality of Life Research, International Journal of Therapy and Rehabilitation, African Journal of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, African Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences, and Annals of Postgraduate Medicine. I was the Chair of the Scientific Council of the Association of Clinical and Academic Physiotherapists of Nigeria, an Abstract Grader, World Confederation of Physical Therapy (African region), an Honorary Consultant (Physiotherapy) to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Trainer of trainees, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Programme, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, CoMUI. I am the Deputy Course Director (Administration), Biomedical Education Programme and Chair, E-Learning Committee, CoMUI. I have encouraged Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of physiotherapists by organizing workshops, seminars and plenary sessions and giving presentations at these forums. I have also given presentations at international conferences. In order to promote evidence-based physiotherapy practice, I developed (in collaboration with other professional colleagues) the first indigenous tool in the assessment of the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions in individuals with osteoarthritis. I have served as an expert in validation studies of outcome assessment tools in Nigeria. I have provided an integrated view of professional education issues for CPD in Nigeria. In order to advance the quality of professional education that will meet the challenges of a scientific discipline as well as a regulated profession in Nigeria, I have published on clinical competence of physiotherapy undergraduates, models of physiotherapy clinical education and learning environment for physiotherapy students. My research efforts have been geared towards expanding the frontier of knowledge, provoking physiotherapy clinicians to think critically when selecting treatment modalities and assessment tools and ultimately improve patient care in orthopedic/ musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice. My teaching, scholarship and clinical practice have been geared towards musculoskeletal health, health outcomes assessment, physiotherapy education, digital health interventions. I am also interested in improved access to healthcare for the underserved and marginalized communities through digital health interventions. I am an advocate of inclusivity of individuals with disabilities in climate change programmes.
