I'm an environmental scientist and (bio)geochemist, specialising in the interaction between trace elements, intermediate phases (colloids, nanoparticles, organic matter), and minerals. I'm particularly interested in chemical change in near-surface environments, broadly encompassing the so-called 'critical zone'. Much of my research has focused on advancing techniques to constrain processes in the vadose zone, including automation of sampling and sensing in cave systems. This technical effort has been necessary to facilitate monitoring of cave hydroclimate in remote and hard-to-access environments. My current position is Senior Scientist (Environmental Research) at Lincoln AgriTech Ltd, and Associate Professor (Geochemistry) part-time at the University of Waikato, having been an NCGRT Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales and NERC-funded PhD researcher at the University of Birmingham.
