Adaia Valls-Ontanon

I am a maxillofacial surgeon, specialized in orthognathic and aesthetic surgery, congenital maxillofacial paediatric surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery and salivary gland surgery. I graduated in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​and specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, although during this period I expanded my training in reference centers in America, Europe and Asia. At the same time, I graduated in Dentistry at the University of Barcelona to complete my training in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2013 I became a Fellow at the Operation Smile Comprehensive Cleft Care Center and in 2016 I obtained the certification of the European Board of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery (FEBOMS). I believe that research is essential for a good development of healthcare practice, to keep up-to-date and to address our scientific concerns, which is why I took the "Master's Degree in Clinical Research Design and Analysis" taught by the University of Barcelona, ​​and I defended my Doctoral Thesis with Excellent Cum Laude in 2014. Since then, I have been involved in multiple studies and competitive projects at a national and European level with the corresponding publications in impact journals. I also direct theses at the same time that I am a member of the jury of other ones. On the other hand, I believe that teaching is essential to share our learning, but also to continue learning from the situations that students or assistants present to us. For this reason, I have been linked to teaching, giving classes, courses and presentations at a national and international level. I am currently a Contracted University Professor Doctor accredited by ANECA at the International University of Catalonia and I am a member of different national and international scientific societies.
