Abubakar A. Khaleed

Abubakar Abubakar Khaleed is a staff of the Department of Physics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with experience in radiation shielding calculation; synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for electrochemical capacitor and gas sensing applications; and nanofluid as insulating oils for oil-filled power equipment. He obtained BSc Physics, MSc Radiation Biophysics and PhD Physics from Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Khaleed has authored more than twenty research articles published in ISI indexed scientific journals and cited globally. He has also published more than 10 local journals. He teaches Physics courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervises many MSc and PhD candidates. Dr Khaleed is a recipient of many awards, grants and fellowships: MacArthur Thesis Completion Grant 2012 for MSc Thesis; TETFUND fellowship for the PhD programme in Physics at the University of Pretoria in 2015; three competitive doctoral research grants from South Africa; PhD Best Poster Presentation Award in Condensed Matter/Materials Science Category at Annual SAIP Conference, Stellenbosch University in 2017; 2nd Place-Solid State Category of Z01 Student Poster Session Award at 232nd ECS Meeting, National Harbor, MD, USA in 2017; award of Academic Honorary Colours by The Student Representative Council (VSR/SRC) of the University of Pretoria in 2017, and TETFUND/NRF 2019 Research GRANT. He is a regular reviewer to many high impact scientific journals. He was a student member of the Electrochemical Society; a member of the Nigerian Young Academy (NYA); a Professional Physicists member and an Ordinary Member of the South Africa Institute of Physics.
