Abdel-Aziz Awad Gouda Zidan (Ph.D., 2013) is a Lecturer of Immunology, Faculty of Science, Damanhur University, Egypt. He is the Director of Genomics and Proteomics Unit in The Center of Excellence in Cancer Research (CECR) as well as Head of the Executive Team of Research Outputs in The Genetic Signature Cancer Center (GSCC) both in Tanta University, Egypt. He obtained his B.Sc., Biology, General Zoology in 2005, master in Physiology in 2010 while working as Research Instructor at Faculty of Science, Tanta University, Egypt (2005 – 2009). Afterward, he obtained his Ph.D. in immunology through a channel system between Faculty of Science, Tanta University, Egypt and Department of Hematology-Oncology, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, Florida (FL), United States of America (USA). In April 2009 he obtained a research fellow position in the Department of Hematology/Oncology, Miller School of Medicine University of Miami for 5 years. He is one of the founders of the Egyptian Association for Cancer Research (EACR) and is currently the treasurer of this association. He was Vice-Director of Quality Assurance Unit, Faculty of Science (2016-2017), Damanhour University, Egypt, and the Director of the QAU unit in the following year (2017-2018). Dr. Zidan attended about 47 professional training courses in the United State of America, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordon, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt. His h-index is 5 and published one book chapter on tumor immunology, and 26 articles in peer-reviewed journals, with more than international citations 123 and attended more than 40 national and international workshops and conferences. He has also supervised 5 Ph.D. theses and 8 Master dissertations. Dr. Zidan’s research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying how cancer and virus escape from host immunity, in particular, the rules of the immunosuppressive cells including lymphoid and myeloid lineages as well as developing effective anticancer immunotherapy strategies. His research projects have been funded by National Institute of Health, USA, Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), Egypt, USA National Academy of Sciences, Tanta University, Egypt, private foundation, and industry. He also served as a reviewer and in the editorial board in many peer-reviewed journals in the field of immunology.
