个人简介
Dr A. S. M. Kayes is currently a Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity at LaTrobe University, Australia. He was the Coordinator of the Bachelor of Cyber Security in 2020-2021 and developed new postgraduate subjects. He has extensive teaching experience at postgraduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of Information and Communication Technology, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity. He has been working as an Academic in Computer Science since 2006 and has more than 15 years of teaching, research and software industry experience. He was a member of the "La Trobe University Academic Board" in 2020-2021.
He received his PhD in Software Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia in 2015. He worked at CQU and Swinburne as Lead Lecturer, Lecturer and Tutor in 2015-2017. In Feb 2017, he joined as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at La Trobe, and in Jan 2018, he has been appointed as a Lecturer in Cybersecurity at La Trobe. His research interests include security and context-aware access control, information modeling, cloud and fog security, IoT security, data privacy, and so on. He is currently supervising many PhD students in the broader domain of cybersecurity.
Dr Kayes published his research work in top IEEE/Elsevier venues, such as Journals (The Computer Journal, Information Systems Journal, Computing Journal, Future Generation Computer Systems Journal, Journal of Big Data, First Monday Journal, IJWGS Journal, and so on) and Conferences (CAiSE, CoopIS, ICSOC, WISE, HICSS, IEEE AINA and IEEE TrustCom). He served on the research tracks and review panels of many prestigious journals and conferences, as editor, track chair, session chair, technical PC member and organizer. He is a member of the Australian Computer Society and IEEE Computer Society. Very recently, Dr Kayes has been trying to connect a bridge between Australian and South Asian Universities for research and teaching-related matters. A recent success of his attempt is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between North South University Bangladesh and La Trobe University Australia.
Dr Kayes received several research grants: (i) a collaborative research fund from Manchester Metropolitan University UK in 2019, (ii) an industry fund from Aiculus through Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC) Australia in 2019, (iii) another Australian Industry Grant in 2020. Currently, he is trying to receive funds from the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery and through ARC Industry Linkages and also from Australian Defence like Next Generation Technology Fund. Dr Kayes has already established a huge collaborative team through working with renowned Australian and International leaders from academia and industries from Australia, UK, USA, Europe and Asia.
Dr Kayes is looking for students to do Master by Research or PhD in the broader domain of cybersecurity, especially in the following areas (but not limited to): the privacy and security of patients' medical records, malware/ransomware detection and defence, blockchain security, piracy and intellectual property right, identifying MAP/NOMAP through dealing with child exploitation materials, context-aware techniques for modelling hackers' behaviour and mindset, cloud and fog security, IoT security, data privacy and access control, a very recent topic - 'social distancing' against COVID-19 applying a wide range of AI techniques (knowledge extraction, data mining, deep learning, machine learning, etc.), and so on. Interested students can send him a "Hi" here .
