个人简介
Allan Randrup Thomsen is an expert in the immune defence against viral infections and the impact of the immune response on the course of viral infections.
He heads a research group in Experimental Virology at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences that studies how the immune system controls viral infections. Additionally, the researchers investigates how the individual maintains his/her ability to resist a re-infection.
Allan Randrup Thomsen is updated with regard to the latest knowlegde about viral diseases and is capable of evaluating and commenting on new information regarding outbreaks of acute viral diseases such as influenza or ebola as well as chronic conditions like HIV and hepatitis B and C infections.
Major research interests:
The virus/host interplay in general, particularly molecular interactions essential to the generation of an efficient and sustained antiviral immune response: triggering of the antiviral host response, effector cell migration to areas of viral infection, effector molecules in virus control and immunopathology, induction and maintenance of T-cell memory including the application of this know-how in development of antiviral vaccines.
