Ângela Pinheiro

Currently I am a PhD Student in Molecular Biosciences PhD Program - MolbioS (ITQB NOVA), under the supervision of Prof. Cristina Silva Pereira (ITQB NOVA) and Prof. Carlos Afonso (FFUL). My PhD project, entitled "Dissecting potential roles of resin diterpene derivatives formed by fungi colonising Pinus pinaster as chemical upholders against phytopathogens" is financed by FCT - SFRH/BD/144593/2019. I am also an integrating member of the ITQB NOVA team in the Pinus Resina Project, led by BLC3, since 2018. From 2017 to 2019, I worked as research fellow in at Prof. Cristina Silva Pereira's Lab (ERC grantee) at ITQB NOVA, PTDC/AGR-TEC/1191/2014. From 2012 to 2015 I was a research fellow in CIIMAR-UP, PTDC/MAR-BIO/2012, supervised by Doctor Pedro N. Leão (ERC grantee). I have been seeking to develop further skills on natural products discovery, organic and analytical chemistry and microbiology methods. I am particularly keen in becoming specialised in aspects related to fungal ecology and environmental sciences aiming to exploit scientific knowledge in the benefit of humans and the environment.
