Antonino Nespola

Antonino Nespola received M.S. and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the Politecnico of Torino, Turin, Italy, in 1995 and 2000, respectively. From 1997 to 1998, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Photonics Laboratory, ISMB of California Los Angeles. From 1999 to 2003, he was first a technician and next responsible for the Optical System Unit in Corning OTI, Milan, where he researched high-speed modulators. In 2003, he joined Pirelli Labs working on a new generation of integrated optical systems based on nanotechnologies in synergy with the scientists of the Microphotonic Center of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently a Senior Researcher at LINKS FOUNDATION (formerly ISMB), Turin, with the role of coordinator of the Optical Communication Unit. His main research interests are the performance analysis and design of optical transmission systems and applying digital signal processing techniques in optical links. He is the author or co-author of more than 130 papers in leading journals and conferences and holds five U.S./European patents.
