The main focus of her work are cardiac symptoms in women at middle-age and the role of female-specific risk factors in (early) heart disease. In the past years she started an expertcenter for microvascular coronary disease at the Radboudumc. In 2015 she initated the Dutch SCAD registry (coronary dissections) and developed the theme cardio-oncology for women treated for breast cancer. She enjoys working with other disciplines such as gynecologists, oncologists, epidemiologists , other vascular disciplines and primary care. Her aim is to widely implement a more gendersensitive cardiology care and to make the cardiology world friendlier for women. In 2014 she initiated the Radboudumc fund Heart for Women (www.hartvoorvrouwen.nl) to collect funding for innovative projects in cardiology care for women. She has been awarded by the Dutch society of female physicians (2010), Libelle Magazine (2010), the Radboudumc(2014), ‘VrouwenvanNu’ (2015) and was knighted to Officer of Oranje Nassau in 2017. She is listed as one of the most powerful women in Dutch healthcare (Opzij 2011-2018) and was elected as number one in 2019. She is a former board member of the Dutch Society of female professors (2014-2019) and the supervisory board of the Saxenburghgroep in Hardenberg (2015-2020). Since September 2020 she is member of the supervisory board of the FlevoHospital in Almere. She was the 2020/21 elected representative of the Dutch Women’s Council to the United Nations. Angela acts as a role model for younger colleagues. From May 2022 onwards she focuses on advisory and scientific work. Her contacts in business should aim to improve health and leadership positions in women, locally and overseas. She considers the combined interaction with art, different cultures and education very inspiring.
