Andris M Dimits

Andris M. Dimits received the Ph.D. degree in astrophysical sciences from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA, in 1988. He was with the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, as a Post-Doctoral Researcher, from 1988 to 1990. He is currently a Research Physicist with the Fusion Energy Theory and Computations Program, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, CA, USA. His current research interests include magnetic fusion plasmas, nonlinear plasma dynamics, kinetic and fluid simulation techniques for plasmas, including derivation, implementation and application of gyrokinetic models, direct simulation and turbulence closures for fluids, and high energy density physics, including instabilities in radiative hydrodynamics. Dr. Dimits is a fellow of the American Physical Society elected through the Division of Plasma Physics. He is one of the originators of the $\delta f$ method.
