Alessio Bertone graduated (MSc) in April 2001 in Computer Science from the University of Genoa. For about four years he was a research fellow at IMATI-CNR, Dep. of Genoa, where he firstly works within the European research project INVISIP, where the research activity dealt with analysing and studying data mining techniques, visualization techniques and visual data mining in order to retrieve geographical data (exploring geographical metadata) in a distributed context. Then he was involved in AIM@SHAPE's tasks related to the digital library development, to metadata and ontology integration and validation, and to the design of the DSW infrastructure (semantic search engine). Since June 2006 he is a scientific researcher at the Department of Information & Knowledge Engineering (ike), Danube University Krems and he received his PhD in computer science from Vienna University of Technology in December 2009. His main research interests are Information Visualisation, Visual Analytics, (Visual) Data Mining, Temporal Data Mining, Multi relational Data Mining, along with attention to Metadata, Semantic Web and Ontologies.
