Matthias Graeser received the Diploma degree from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2010, and the Dr.Ing. degree in electrical engineering science from the University of Lübeck, Lübeck, Germany, in 2016. His thesis was about measurement technology for magnetic particle spectroscopy (MPS) and magnetic particle imaging (MPI). In a post-doctoral position at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, he worked at the Institute for Biomedical Imaging on the upscaling of MPI systems for human use. In addition, he developed application scenarios for MPI technology together with the physicians of the University Medical Center. He is currently a Professor of imaging instrumentation at the University of Lübeck and the Head of the Diagnostic Department, Fraunhofer Institution for Individualized and Cell-Based Medical Engineering (IMTE), Lübeck. His research interests include hardware optimization, magnetic field generator design, magnetic micro robotics, and magnetic hyperthermia for cancer treatment.
