Group processes toward group creativity

This review presents an overview of recent studies on group processes that contribute to group creativity. We organize and integrate the empirical literature on group creativity published in major management and applied psychology journals since 2010 and develop a synthesized framework onto which group processes can be mapped. The framework identifies five content dimensions of group processes (i.e., cognitive, affective, motivational, social, and normative) that can be either emergent states, interactive processes, or both. We provide a thematic review for each dimension to illustrate how and when various aspects of group processes predict group creativity. Practical applications and future directions for research and practice are discussed.
