Investigations are performed at several spatial and temporal scales to account for the range of mechanisms and processes involved and their controls. For the later, his research seeks identification of land use and land management strategies aiming at decreasing organic carbon losses from soils while fostering ecosystem functions as a means for mitigating against climate change and suggesting pathways for sustainable agriculture. I leaded projects in different developing countries from Brazil, Laos and South Africa. My main achievements were to better understand the losses of soil carbon by agricultural soils and their main controls to promote farming practices adapted at storing more carbon to soils for climate change attenuation and food security.
