个人简介
Roberto Carlà received the Laurea degree in electronic
engineering from the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, in 1982.
Since 1984, he has been with the Institute of Applied Physics “Nello Carrara” (IFAC-CNR) of the
National Research Council of Italy (formerly IROE Istituto di Ricerca sulle Onde Elettromagnetiche), where he was
mainly engaged in satellite remote sensing and image processing studies aimed at evaluating and monitoring geophysical
variables and environmental parameters. He has been working for over 30 years in the analysis and processing of remote
sensing images, particularly acquired by satellites. He is focused especially on issues related to data preprocessing,
georeferencing, and orthorectification, as well as the generation of digital terrain models of high spatial definition,
analysis of multitemporal and multispectral images, and techniques for the integration of data from different sensors.
In the framework of several national and international projects, he has worked also on the application of remote
sensing by satellite to desertification processes in the Southern Azaouad (Mali), landslide characterization and
analysis, archaeological site investigation by remote sensing, GIS and predictive modeling, burnt area detection and
fire severity assessment by multispectral and multitemporal satellite data, sea water quality analysis, and the
assessment of the surface soil moisture by reflectance and thermal satellite data. He has published many papers in the
above topics and is a coauthor of three books on informatics.
