Raffaele Perego is a senior researcher at CNR, where he leads the High Performance Computing Lab (http://hpc.isti.cnr.it/) carrying out research on algorithms and information systems addressing data-intensive problems in the scientific, business, social, and knowledge-based fields. He received his Laurea degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa in 1985. His main research interests include: Web information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, cloud and distributed computing. Raffaele Perego coauthored more than 120 papers on these topics published in journals and in the proceedings of peer reviewed international conferences. He commonly serves in the PC committee of top-level conferences of his research area (e.g. ACM SIGIR, ACM CIKM, ECIR, etc.). He participated and coordinated activities in several EC projects such as CoreGRID, NextGRID, Sapir, GRIDComp, Contrail, Assets, InGeoClouds and MIDAS.
