个人简介
Soraia is a Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College London. She holds a Research Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering (2015-2019) focused on understanding and modelling the mechanics of discontinuous composites for large-volume applications (such as the automotive industry). Her research interests also include the theoretical development of novel composite materials - with complex architectures and bio-inspired systems - to create improved solutions for challenging applications, and modelling of high-performance composites for structural applications.
Soraia's PhD (from the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College London, in 2013) focused on analysing and modelling the mechanics of recycled composites. She also developed original models for the fibre-dominated tensile and compressive failure in composites and associated size effects, and used modelling to proposed innovative material systems and create a new generation of ductile composites in the HiPerDuCT project.
