个人简介
He has authored/coauthored research papers and given keynotes on the subjects of smart sensors, RFID, IoT, and PTP worldwide. His experience and research interests have been in sensor-based measurement and control, smart and wireless sensor technologies, and standards for smart manufacturing and smart grids. He has developed advanced manufacturing technology for the U.S. Navy for just-in-time manufacture of precision submarine parts based on research conducted on error-compensation techniques at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility. The techniques have been adopted by manufacturers to build more accurate production machines at much lower costs. He is the Chair of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society’s Technical Committee on Sensor Technology and TC-9. This committee has developed a suite of 15 IEEE 1451 (ISO/IEC 21451) standards on smart transducer interfaces for sensors and actuators and the IEEE 1588 (IEC 61588) precision clock synchronization protocol standard known globally as the precision time protocol suitable for IoT, IIoT, smart grid, and CPS applications. He was profiled by EE Times’s Great Mind, Great Ideas project as one of 29 innovators in the world in 2006. The innovation: IEEE 1451 Empowering Smart Sensors Revolution.
