Jon Fistein has extensive experience working in healthcare management at a senior level both in employed roles and as a consultant. As well as his principal current role as Chief Medical Officer of PHIN, he is theLeadership and Management Theme Lead at the Cambridge University Clinical School and a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Leeds.
He is qualified as a medical doctor and as a barrister with an LLM (Distinction). He has completed an Open University MBA. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics and a Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Managment.
Key skills include the ability to meet commercial and clinical needs with effective technical solutions; the ability to understand the organizational challenges associated with the introduction of new technologies and processes; and the ability to think strategically in order to plan appropriate responses to changing needs.
Jon has worked in academia, in the public and private sectors, and as a consultant on national and international projects. His diverse training (in medicine, law, business and IT) has helped him to understand the different legal, organizational and technological challenges in implementing new systems and new ways of working in the healthcare setting. He has taken leadership roles for Information Governance in NHS Connecting for Health and in the Department of Health Research Capability Programme. He continues to provide consultancy, training and advice to public sector and commercial organisations.
