Research interests
Effects of environmental pressures on plants, in particular climate change interactions with respect to stratospheric ozone and solar UV-B radiation, focusing on a systems/holistic approach. Physiological and biochemical studies on plant response to UV radiation, visible radiation, temperature, heavy metals, fungal infection; application of stress for inducing plant quality traits; flavonoid antioxidant induction under stress. Food security issues relating to climate change adaptation and response. Interested in exploring alternative multi-functional crops (for healthy food, fibre, nutraceuticals), in particular native crops that are currently under-researched and barely commercialised.
