个人简介
Habtamu is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Metabolomics laboratory located at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. As a postdoctoral scientist, he currently leads large and complex population based projects. Habtamu’s work focuses on lipids and lipid metabolism in relation to chronic diseases. Habtamu is also interested in developing metabolic risk scores to asses the risk of cardiometabolic conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
He completed his PhD (specialization in Biomedical Sciences) at Monash University in May 2021. He has a strong track record including many peer-reviewed scientific publications (8 as first author). His publications have been cited more than 150 times (h-index=8) which shows the recognition of his research work by the international community as well as his outstanding achievements in academia. He has reviewed several papers for international journals. Moreover, he is active member of several professional organizations including International Lipidomic Society (ILS) and Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS).
Habtamu completed his Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology at Jimma University, Ethiopia (2007) and his MSc at Addis Ababa University (2011). Habtamu has undertaken research and teaching roles in biomedical sciences domain (from 2007–2017).
