个人简介
Over the past ten years Edmund Heery's research has focusd on the role of civil society organizations - charities, NGOs and campaigning bodies - in shaping the world of work. He has examined the workplace programmes and policies of Stonewall, MacMillan, Amnesty International and several other organizations of this type.
The latest phase of this research has involved an in-depth stody of the UK's voluntary Living Wage. The Living Wage standard has been developed and promoted by Citizens UK, a network of community organizations and has been promoted to employers by the Living Wage Foundation.
More than 9000 employers have signed up to the accreditation scheme operated by the Living Wage Foundation since its inception in 2011 and the research has tracked this development, looking at why employers sign up to voluntary standards of this type, assessing whether the Living Wage brings benefits to the organizations which adopt it, and examining how many and which types of workers benefit.
The Living Wage is a striking example of the civil regulation of the labour market and the research of Edmund and his colleagues, Deborah Hann, David Nash and Celia Netanta, provides an unrivalled insight into this important development.
