Danlu started working as a research fellow at UNSW, on a WHO-funded project to assess drinking water quality changes at various supply sources in response to short-term climate variability in Tanzania. In Oct 2017, Danlu joined the Infrastructure Engineering Department at the University of Melbourne, working on ARC Linkage Project (LP104100495). This project provided a better understanding of how river water quality varies in space and time, and also developed predictive models over large regional scales for Victoria and the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) region in Queensland. Since 2019, Danlu started working on another Linkage Project (LP170100710) which aims to develop an integrated irrigation scheduling, benchmarking and forecasting capability. Danlu's research interest is to understand the impact of various hydro-climatic conditions and processes on water resources systems through statistical modelling, which can provide critical knowledge to estimating the potential response of these systems to a changing climate. In 2019, Danlu's research contribution has been recognized by winning the highly competitive Early Career Research Award by the Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (MSSANZ).
