My researches are focused on the role of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) in the release of dormancy and in the germination of seeds, by using mainly sunflower seeds as a model. They cover the following aspects:
Longevity, ageing and deterioration of seeds: role of ROS and role of detoxication pathways.
Seed dormancy: ROS signalisation during release of dormancy, interaction with hormones (ABA, ethylene).
In both cases, I am more particularly interested in the cellular mechanisms which are involved in physiological changes held in a dry state. The study of the metabolism in anhydrobiose relates to the production and the perception of ROS in a dry state and to the changes of water and lipid status using biophysical methods (differential scanning microcalorimetry, isotherms of sorption).
