个人简介
Cheng Dang received the B.S. degree in atmospheric sciences from Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China, in 2011, and the M.S. degree in atmospheric sciences, the M.S. degree in applied mathematics, and the Ph.D. degree in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, in 2014, 2016, and 2017, respectively.
In 2019, she completed her post-doctoral research at the University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA. In 2020, she then joined the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (UCAR/JCSDA), Boulder, CO, USA, as a CRTM Project Scientist. Her research revolves around the theory and modeling of atmospheric radiation, focusing on the interactions of light with airborne and deposited aerosols within various mediums. In particular, she has experience in field measurement and laboratory experiments on analyzing light-absorbing particles in snow, developed fast empirical algorithms for modeling snow albedo, and improved the cryosphere radiative transfer schemes in the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM) by the Department of Energy. Since joining JCSDA, she has been actively working on improving the aerosol and surface treatment in the Community Radiative Transfer Model (CRTM) for scientific development and the operational missions of multiple agencies, including Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).
