个人简介
I am a scientist working to understand how viruses make us ill, especially viruses that cause life-long infections. I do this by studying the balance between the human immune system (and the genes that underlie this) and variation in the virus that causes glandular fever/infectious mononucleosis - Epstein-Barr virus.
Since completing my PhD in 2013, I have expanded my research focus to study the three biggest viral killers of children who have received organ transplants: EBV, cytomegalovirus (CMV) and adenovirus. Using new sequencing technology, I am studying how variation in these viruses, and the body's adaptive T cell response to them, influences the development of cancerous complications of organ transplantation (post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease).
