Bruce Walcott

Bruce L. Walcott (M’86–SM’93) received the B.S.E.E., M.S.E.E., and Ph.D. degrees from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. Since 1987, he has been on the Faculty with the University of Kentucky (UK), where he is currently an Associate Dean with the Economic Development and Commercialization and is the first ever College of Engineering Alumni Professor. His research interests include observation and control of nonlinear systems, intelligent identification and control via neural networks, fuzzy logic control, robotics, genetic algorithms, and active vibration control of nonlinear systems. He has 19 patents or pending patents and has been PI or Co-PI on more than $25M of external grants. Dr. Walcott is the Principal Investigator on the UK's National Science Foundation CSEM grant and Coprincipal Investigator on the UK's National Science Foundation Noyce Fellowship grant. He has also started the UK Solar Car Team with UK engineering student, C. Thornton, in 1998. More recently, he was a Coprincipal Investigator on successful UK DOE Solar Decathlon proposal in 2008. He is the Founder and former Interim Director of the UK Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments.
