个人简介
Basak has expansive experience teaching in business schools at all levels. Prior to joining King’s, Basak taught Strategy, Entrepreneurship, International Business, GOTO (Global Opportunities and Threats – Oxford) and General Management at Saïd Business School and Warwick Business School for MBA, Executive MBA, MSc and undergraduate students.
Basak’s research is deeply embedded in Strategy-as-Practice. This is a paradigm that focuses on what people do while they are strategizing. In other words, she studies strategy not as something that an organisation has, but rather something that an organisation does. In addition to having a dominant practice lens, her research is also practitioner orientated. In all of her research projects, she has paid close attention to producing outcomes that would be useful to practitioners. In doing so, all of her publications are targeted at three audiences: academics, business practitioners, and consultants.
Basak’s broader research interests involve the uniqueness paradox in strategy and strategy communications. Recently, she has published an article under these headings in Strategic Management Journal with the (short) title "Cheap Talk" in which her author team measured share price reactions associated with strategy presentations.
Her research appears frequently in practitioner journals and public access media as well as mainstream refereed journals. Her research has been published in prominent practitioner journals such as Harvard Business Review and Perspectives and mentioned in public media such as Forbes, Sky News, BBC Radio 4, Telegraph, and Money Week.
Basak has been shortlisted twice for the Strategic Management Society BestPaper for Practice Implications award and once for the Academy of Management Best Paper award. Her articles have been published on numerous occasions in the Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings.
She has been nominated and elected as representative-at-large for the Strategy-as-Practice interest group in Strategic Management Society and acts as a reviewer for a plethora of top journals in organisation theory and strategy. She is also a regular contributor to main strategy textbooks including Exploring Strategy.
