I am an AI researcher currently focusing on building safe AI systems.
My core research has been on Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Robotics. However the body of my work touches on various disciplines of Computer Science that include Quantum Computation, Systems, Formal Methods, Programming Languages and Human-Computer Interaction.
A significant part of my career has focused on building AI systems that sensitive to various humane aspects. Earliest part of my research career focused on building AI agents that are sensitive to human emotions and aspire to be emotionally intelligent (as opposed to just artificially intelligent). A large part of this research focused on Machine Learning with incomplete information (semi-supervised learning, imputation, noisy data etc.) and involved automatic analysis of non-verbal behavior (e.g. Facial Action Analysis) and physiological responses. Much of my work has also focused on interpretability, debuggability and other challenges in building AI systems with human in the loop.
